We will focus on reducing land-based and sea-based sources of litter, preventing the production of waste, leveraging on science and technology, maintaining and strengthening outreach and stakeholder engagement, and having international engagement and collaboration.

Marine litter is a growing global challenge which can come from many sources and is a transboundary issue as litter is moved across the oceans by prevailing winds and tides.

In line with The Green Tourism Programme, we will focus expediting effort to reduce energy consumption, recycle rainwater, and decrease temperature on our fleet of yacht.

Southern Seas Sustainability Tour

Installing Solar Panels across boat’s flybridge to generate enough energy to power electricity to saloon and inner cabin rooms.

Applying Smart LED Lighting in common areas. The light’s intensity is adjustable by motion sensors. It is estimated to cut down the energy used for lighting by up to 60 percent.
Integrating Urban Water Harvesting Systems onto the boat to recycle rainwater. The rainwater is stored in an under-harvesting tank, recycled, and used for washing common areas around the yacht. This will cut back the water consumption by 50%.

Painting the boat with Cool Coatings to reduce the temperature in boat saloon areas. The cool layers absorb less heat during the day and emit less heat at night. The aim is to reduce the overall sea environment temperature by a few degrees celsius.

Launching new sustainability-themed tours, to highlight the importance of building a sustainable future a new challenge to us. Through these tours, guests will be able to venture into another side of Southern Seas to explore its hidden gems, while appreciating nature conservation efforts, marine life, and heritage assets.

As a gateway to the Southern Island archipelago and just 10 minutes from St John’s Island, we will be looking at new low-carbon leisure experiences in the Southern Islands to extend the Sentosa getaway. This will be in conjunction with the opening of a new ferry jetty at Sentosa Cove Village. Ferry services from One Degree 15 Marina to nearby islands will be possible. As part of our improved sea experiences, guests can look forward to traversing St John’s and Lazarus Islands on rented bicycles and glamping amidst nature, while potentially having food delivered to the islands via drone delivery or even find green convenience store & caravans on the islands for drinks, foods and rest.

In 2023 and beyond, guests can look forward to immersing themselves in a rustic getaway on Southern Islands adventurously, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Together, these initiatives will showcase the conservation of the rich nature, biodiversity and heritage on Southern Islands in our one & only Sustainable Tourism Tour on our own ferries and yacht.
